Serving Material
Serving is wrapped around the stress points of a bow string to increase bow string's longevity. Reserving and waxing your current bow string are some of the easiest bow maintenance steps you can take for keeping your gear shooting for years to come. As a serving wears, it will groove where your arrow nock attaches and/or unravel with use.
Serving material is also great for tying in string silencers too.
